There was much else that Jesus did; if it were written down in detail, I do not suppose the world itself would hold all the books that would be written. (John 21)
If a story about someone has no basis in historical fact, then can it possibly be true?
This is the question that I am grappling with at the moment. Sometimes my head is spinning with the myriads of opinions in the myriads times myriads of books John the Evangelist refers to. The foundations of my worldview and faith are teetering precariously.
At moments like this I close the books and put my reading glasses away. Instead I take my camera and go out, ears and eyes attuned to the sound of God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.
I don’t have to walk far to put the doubts to rest.
Back home I pick up the books again, and read things through what my lens, a glass less darkly, has seen. Things about God can be known through his works.
